In each level, candy hangs from one or more ropes, which have to be cut to maneuver the candy to Om Nom, Nibble Nom or Om Nelle. Stage gimmicks such as bubbles and air cushions are used to assist manipulating the candy as well. As is commonplace in the series, three stars are found in every level, and must be collected to unlock later level packs, referred to in this game as books. Each book has twenty-four levels and references a previous Cut the Rope game ( Evan's Home, for example, is based on the original Cut the Rope and Road Trip is based on Cut the Rope 2).

Once the candy is fed to Om Nom, the player is given a score by how many stars they collected in the level and how quickly they completed it, similarly to Cut the Rope: Experiments, Cut the Rope 2 and older versions of the first game and Cut the Rope: Time Travel.Ī new gimmick of Cut the Rope Remastered is that Om Nom, Nibble Nom and Om Nelle all have their own level types. Om Nom's levels play like the original Cut the Rope games one candy must be manipulated into his mouth.
